How old should you be when you have a cellphone?

ok, almost everyone in my class has a cellphone.I really want one bad but my parents say I'm too young.So,how old should you be?
It'd really help if you could answer this!

I'd say when you're old enough to be trusted to go out by yourself with friends as it's useful for telling your parents where you are. Say 12 or 13 upwards

Don't go by "peer pressure". Who cares if the others have one.....do YOU REALLY need one? Think about that first.

Now, you still need one, or just WANT one? I doubt your parents are just being cheap, but if you still think you need or want one....maybe they would go for a "Go Phone" where you aren't under a long contract and only use it if you REALLY need to AND YOU pay for the calls (usually 15 or 25 cents per min (plus $1 connection fee per day on days you use it) {You would have to check the details closer yourself and your parents}.
I use a 'Go Phone" and only if REALLY necessary because I have no NEED for a cell phone, and I don't really care if "everybody else" has one.

Usually one needs to be 18 to go and buy a cellphone. I presume that you are younger than 18. In that case then it is up to your parents whether you can have a cell phone or not.

I got one when I was 13 because I was/am really active in sports for my school.So I could call my parnts if an unexpected practice came up or to tell them when we are going to be done practicing.If you aren't into anything like that then 16.

Its understandable I have seen kids at the age of 8 and 10 with cellphones If you need one and have a good reason let your parents know that
