In all seriousness,
My sister drew me a picture in crayon before she died with a big heart and smiley faces on it.
I would go through hell and back to keep that with me.
Peace.

As long as my family was out safely...
The items I would save would be the scrapbooks I have worked hours upon hours on.
Not only are there photographs, but the journaling and art work I put into each one is priceless. My scrapbooks chronical the lives of my husband & myself growing up, our marriage and birth of our twins. My twin's scrapooks show every 1st step, birthday, 1st day of school, Christmas morning and special momentos like certificate of 1st haircut with little hair curl attached, award for selling 1039 boxes of Girl Scout cookies (the most in the city of Lexington), book reports from school... wow- I could go on and on.
Just thinking about this makes me want to lock up my books in a fire-proof safe. But I feel that we should have them out on the coffee table to enjoy.
Hopefully no one will ever have to be placed in the position of being in a fire and having to save family members or objects that mean so much to them.

I'd say my scrapbook. When I went down to New Orleans in March to help with clean up I saw so many people's memories spread everywhere in the streets and seeing photos washed away and damaged broke my heart...all those memories. In our digital world though, we're fortunate, we can save pictures to a CD and keep them in a firesafe or something of the like.

If we are assuming that children and pets are already out of the house safely, then I would save my purse. My car keys are in it as well as money, SS cards, debit card, drivers licenses, photos of my children, my cell phone (so I could call 911), important phone numbers.

That may seem silly to worry about things like that, but have you ever had to replace your drivers licenses? It is required for you to have two forms of a picture id in order to replace them. And how would I drive my vehicle without my keys?

Get family and pets first. Then I'd go with the photo albums. Everything else can be replaced.

Probably a photo album. Just about the only thing that can't be replaced with $$$$
