I have a plumbing problem because my house stinks after I take a long shower. The smell is from under the house. I have a septic tank and it's not full. If I crawl under the house what am I looking for? An open pipe? vent? and what does it look like.
The tank is 100 ft in front of the house. It smells like methane gas.
I am a DIY and will crawl under the house to fix it if I can.

if you crawl under the house you probably find it. sound like a vent problem

Just because the tank is not full does not mean your not having a back up problem. If your a DIY then go under the house and have a look around. If you can get some help have them run the shower if you don't see something right off the bat. Old homes lines will fill with roots and other things, not allowing water to pass easily to the septic tank.

Are you sure that it's not just something in your bathroom smells when it gets warm in there? Try pouring some bleach down your drains and see if that helps. I had a problem with my tub stinking up my bathroom after taking a shower too. There was mildew in the drain and when it got hot it produced a more noticeable smell. I poured some bleach down the drain because I obviously couldn't reach my hand in there to scrub it away and it helped.

Are you sure it's a drainage issue and not an issue of steam and mildew?
Run only cold water in the shower for the same length of time and see if that rules out steam...

hire someone to check it out.......i had a similar smell when hot water was used......come to find out it was the small pipes called "nipples" that were not brass....they were galvanized pipe (which rusts)........they were attached to the hot water heater......anyway....your prob...may be caused by several things.........a blocked vent which goes out the top of the house......a blocked or full tank....good luck

Try to get a free estimate of the problem, they should tell you the problem then you can fix it if you can.
