I am looking to change my ISP, as they are rubbish (Orange). I know that BT are also not very good.

I basically need a reliable service that works in rural areas on 512mbps (so no cable/satellite), with decent tech support (unlike orange). Who would you recommend?

I have been looking at virgin, but don't know much about them.

i am and have been with aol for the last 5 years - if you have small children it is one of the best sites for being kid friendly and safe - u can have upto 7 email address - and theres quite a few hidden extras - only problem is now- the uk part of aol has been sold onto carphone warehouse - oh poop isnt that the talk talk holders - so i dont know what the next few months will be like - although they do say in emails that things will not change,so im sorta looking for a change myself, i hear that in the next couple of years the isp's are going to offer some type of bulk package - broadband - telephone and tv for 1 payment - i am seriously thinking of going with sky.com - they have a hdd modem which should be out soon which is supposed to be the dogs bollocks when it comes to broadband packages - i have also been contacted by bt - but after reading what some folks have put here concerning bt i am not going to go down that road - dont forget whatever company you choose - it is a minimum contract of 12 - 18 months - do you really want to be tied up with a company when all the hottest deals could be availiable soon - you perhaps should try out the freebie disks first - do they still do those 3 months free trials?

I'm the opposite.. as above.

I'm with BT and no problems. Exception... it occasionally drops connection, stops browsing with DNS error. I reboot and it's fine.

TalkTalk are really bad. Customer Serivce none exsistent and they have messed up so many times on transfering people over on broadband.

A friend of mine is on Telewest.... sorry but he doesn't rate them. I also thought you needed to be on Cable for Telewest?

As someone as said, you would have to narrow down who can supply in your area and then perhaps ask the question again. No point everyone making suggestions if the ISP is not available near you.

I am with Toucan Up to 8mbps for £14.99. Never had any problems and customer services are great Go to WWW.TOUCAN.COM and enter your telephone number in their broadband speed box to see what speed you can get

NTL have been spot on for me, was 8.99 for 3 months, then 17.99 after (1mbps) U will need to check availability in your area

That depends on the ISP's in your area.
