But seriously, I don't remember the names, let alone the faces, of my old acquaintances. Friends, to some extent, but not mere acquaintances.

That's "Should auld acquaintance be forgot". It's about sharing a drink to remember old friendships, for old times' sake (auld lang syne).

But then I'm English, so perhaps someone north of the border could answer better.
