Ozzy and Kurt Cobain each created an image for their respective band. Ozzy could be considered the Godfather of Heavy Metal, and Kurt Cobain, the Godfather of Grunge. Heavy Metal, nevertheless, lasted longer than grunge in popularity. Metallica is still playing, and Ozzy is a Cable TV celeb. And Nirvana had no guitar player as talented as Tony Iommi. When you look back at Black Sabbath you have to consider Iommi the unsung driving force of Sabbath, although Ozzy was a shining presence as the group's frontman.

I never got into Nirvana but I have seen Black Sabbath live 2 or 3 times (I'd need to check my bag full of concert stubs) and have 3 Cd's by Black Sabbath, Black Sabbath, We Sold are Soles for Rock n Roll and Technical Ecstasy. At one time I also have Sabbath Bloody Sabbath but someone took that one home without my permission. Black Sabbath's older stuff was there best but, that holes true for most of the '70s Rock Music.

I'd say that you like Black Sabbath better because you seem to know more about them. Band members, instruments they play, and you have generalized Kurt Cobain's heroin addiction to the other members of the band (which is not the case at all). Maybe you just feel like you should like something more modern because Black Sabbath is OLD. Personally, I like Black Sabbath and Ozzy's solo stuff better than Nirvana. Don't be afraid to like what you like, if there isn't anything modern that you like and you think there ought to be, it's time for you to start your own band.

Sabbath, Nirvana doesn't half the good songs Sabbath does. The way I feel is the way I am.
