The sea does overflow. Each year in America, the total land area decreases due to the sea level rising & covering more land on our coasts. The Eastern & Western United States beaches have lost miles of coastline within the last decade due to this.

The reason we see flood because land is small. The sea area is 70 % of land. Th earth land area is only 30 %. If you look at the flood situation, it affect a very very small area. may less than 1 %. So if the sea gets flooded we would not even notice it

Please see the above site for data about sea level rising. This is a major issue for cities/town/regions that are at or near sea level. It IS 'overflowing' and we can see evidence around the world.

Where do you think the water from the rivers comes from? It evaporates from the sea and falls again as rain. It's the same water, just circulating from the sea to the land and back again.

Water seeks it's own level, for the moment, it's at high as its going get. If the ice caps melt, as predicted, look for the levels to rise with coastal flooding of all low lying areas.

Same reason that melting ice cubes in your glass of iced tea melt and don't overflow your glass. All that's happening is that the ice melts and simply replaces itself as water. Basically.

interruptions in hydrological cycle cause flooding or receding of oceans.
when ever water accumulates in abundance in flood like conditions, ocean currents start and displacement of water takes place.
tide is a flood like condition when water impounds coastal plains.
the question is substantially logical.
