Let me see if I have this right. You're a 27 yr old man, who lives at home with his mom and wears his sister's skirts and dresses. You want to move out and live as a girly girl and wear all the girly clothes you want all the time. However, you're not sure of the possible social ramifications.
Okay, here's the straight poop. Society thinks it is healthy for boys to like being boys and for girls to like being girls. If a boy prefers to be a girl then that is regarded as unhealthy. In fact, society treats it as a sexual disorientation. In your case, you're not so much interesting in being a girl as you are in dressing in the most ultra-feminine clothes you can imagine. Most real girls feel just fine and comfortable in pants and t-shirts. Most girls are just as happy when they don't have to dress-up or wear make up.
In your case your brain is wired in such a way that wearing feminine clothes gives you a feeling of well-being, pleasure, self-identity and sexual gratification. In fact you may describe it as a NEED to wear feminine clothes. When you wear girly dresses and skirts, your brain releases a series of powerful neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters are associated with addictive behavior, which is what you got.
So what do you do? Decide if you are going to fight this addiction or if you are going to give in to it. If you want to give in to the addictive feelings, then you need to talk to your mother and family. Tell them that you are a thoroughly confirmed crossdresser and that you need their love and support. Chances are that they will not understand compulsive crossdressing, but they will still love you and they will do anything to protect you. Then you will need to develop a female alter-ego that can pass as female in public. Make sure that you are passable before venturing out or society will treat you as a pervert with a gender disfunction. You're walking down a rough road and you don't want to lose your family on the way.

Society judges us unequally, but the times are changing rapidly for crossdressers in that they are widely accepted in many places. I've seen a LOT of couples out and about all over in restaurants, bookstores, malls, beaches, clubs and at shows where both the male and female are dressed up in matching skirts, mostly denim with males in hose and tennis shoes or sneaker wedges. Nothing weird or unnaceptable about that at all, it's just a trend toward being more open and to be quite honest it's a healthy couples activity, because the male gets the comfort and freedom which keep him healthy, while females get to enjoy something sexy, sensible and alluring on their male for a change and get to show it all off in public in decent fashion of course without being gawdy or looking gay.
What is important is that YOU should wear whatever feels right and looks good to you and your partner. If you're lucky enough to have a girlfriend, wear a skirt that accents or matches hers and wear it proudly in style and comfort. All that matters is not what society thinks, just you and your partner. Besides, no one is going to come up to you and disagree if she's there anyway...so have fun and enjoy yourself ! ;-)
