Why can't the gov. find a way THAT ALL PEOPLE make up the money they lost/cut? It's not right that the ONLY vice I have (and may I say keep to myself ie: my car/house etc. has to be picked on.

I agree! I'm so sick of having to pay extra because I smoke. Smoking is a choice, but also an addiction. If the government and health insurance company wants to do something, then they shouldn't charge us extra, they should give free or reduced cost treatments for helping with stopping. Why doesn't the government charge extra for people who like to drag race, paint, etc.? They could make things alittle bit easier on people who live who are paying their salaries!

Cigarette smoking is a burden on society because of the huge amounts the government pays for treatment of smokers with cancer or other terrible diseases. Therefore, raising taxes on cigarettes is good public policy. You should see a doctor about this because there are lots of options for people who are trying to quit. I had a family member who died of lung cancer after a lifetime of smoking and I can tell you it was an awful, painful way to die.
