How old is the "dingbat daughter"? My "dingbat daughter" is 17 and refuses to wear socks that match. In fact, the more mismatched they are....the happier she is. And you know what? There are better things to fight about. Better battles to pick. So my advice to you would be to let her dress as she wants most of the time. When you are going someplace where it really matters how she looks, then help her choose other socks to wear, and as you are helping her, remind her that most of the time it doesn't matter what she wears and that you love all of the time anyway, no matter how she looks.....maybe this will help her compromise with you when she needs to.

Why would you publically call your daughter a dingbat and if she wants to wear red socks let her. Depending on her age maybe she is in a phase. Everyone has a way of setting themself aside from the norm. Let her be. Keep insulting her and your going to kill her self esteem and any trust or respect she may have in you

Let her wear the red socks. It is just a phase that she will grow out of on her own. Just be glad that seems to be the biggest problem you have with her. So many kids have behavior problems that really could stress you out- consider yourself lucky.
In fact, buy yourself a few pairs of red socks and join her in her fashion style. It will make your relationship closer and you will always have this memory together!
You know the phrase-
"If you can't beat 'em, join 'em"!

I wear black socks at the moment everywear. Not a good idea to call your daughter a dingbat. Red socks are cool, think to yourself could be worse.

slowly add some bleach to the red sock washing load and they will eventually turn pink,in the mean while get together a load of snazzy socks try primark,h&m&zara for reasonably priced fashionable alternatives then introduce them to her sock draw she'll soon start ignoring the now pink socks and opt fot the new fashionable editions

hahaha dingbat! ace. gosh everyones taken it so seriously!!
bless its her thing, let her get on with it, she'll grow out of it eventually (i used to wear scrunchies!!! argh i know, its ok i've burnt them all now)
however in the mean time take plenty of pics of her with them in her clashing outfits and save them for her 21st!!
or start wearing red socks too and then be like 'yeah look at me in my red socks being all fashionable' and it will be very uncool for her parents to being wearing the same as her!!!
or maybe suggest some cute red pumps?!

Start by honoring her already developed sense of fashion. She likes em, get over it.
To empower her, teach her how to wear things that go with the socks.

First of all show her a little more respect than calling her a dingbat. Secondly, talk to you her - communication is the key to any good relationship.
It's just socks - LIGHTEN UP!!!

Stop calling her a dingbat and maybe she'll care a little bit more about what you think of her socks.
