Just put in the different values for x:

-(-3)2 - 5(-3) - 6 =
- 9 - (-15) - 6 =
- 9 + 15 - 6 = 0

Do the second one the same way and get 0 again.

since x=-3 and x=-2 are the roots of the equation (if we equate the poly. to zero)

the value of the polynomial in both the cases is zero.
