The most fatal mistake made by the U.S. was not recognizing the indisputable fact that all terrorists are Muslims.
Racial profiling is regarded as not politically correct. That is foolish.

In the history of the USA, there have been moments in time where a subculture has been villafied by mainstream. They have been scapegoated for the ills in society. Native-americans, italian-americans, african-americans, japaneese-americans, have all had their turn to be de-humanized. Muslim society is going through their ride on the misunderstanding roller coaster. The issue at the heart is that most people do not know what muslim society is. In the past, a leader has arisen to be the face and the mouth piece for the community under attack. Once the rest of society could see some sense of identity, the threat implied or real, seemed to fade away. Right now, the Muslim community doesn't really have a leader in the western society. there is no one whom we can recognize within the now current mainstream. In most cases, the acts of the few have been taken as representation of the mentality of the masses. 19 terrorists have become the mind set of the community. I'm an african american male and I'm still living in O.J.'s shadow.
As for fatal mistakes, time will tell what is fatal. A fatal mistake is one from which there can be no correction made. I don't know if we have reached that point. Are you saying that the Muslim society will never be at peace within the US?!
I have never been given reparations so I can safely say don't count on getting any either. I still get pulled over when driving in the wrong neighborhood for the silliest of infractions...I can fly without getting the looks that you will receive, but then how often do I fly? I can't even go to the local drug store without store security following me around like I'm going to shop lift and I make more money that the security guard! I'm not saying that I have it worse, just that I do understand. Its not right, but for every step forward your society makes, one dufus sets the entire community back. Right or wrong, you know your position in society and you need your community to rally together, police your own, and put your best foot forward. Its your reputation so you need to show the world your contributions. Only then will you not be judged totally by the stigma around you. It will never totally go away.

I'm not afraid of our internal security...we have the Freedom of Speech in the USA, as well as the Freedom of Religion. I'm a Christian American and I've worked 7 nights a week for 4 weeks at a time simply to give the Muslim family which owns our neighborhood store nights off for Ramadan. I've said this before in other answers. The general American does not hate Islam. We appreciate another view of the beginning times, that which was presented by David, Jesus, Mohamed, Buddha, and by countless other figures who lived before these prophet-messengers of God. The masses are fighting over who was the true prophet, this is where I believe the USA may have offended religious fanatics. The USA is Christian in about 60% of American households. Some Christian believers have fanatic rhetoric just as some Muslim fanatics. This is displayed and exploited by the media in the opposing nations and creates more misunderstanding. Also the funding by America of dictators for certain gains, then a quick turnaround after profiting at their hand has caused many Muslims to see us as underhanded and greedy deniers of Islam. This is a misconception of the true nature of most Americans. We support our freedoms and deplore oppression in the name of greed. Happy Hajj, Happy Eid and Happy New Year. Sincerely, a Christian American

The muslim society you see today is by far the very worst society that has ever existed in the world. Radical muslims are no different than nazis. They should be removed from the planet for ever. The world would be far better if there were no muslims at all. There fore I would have to say that most fatal mistake made by the USA to a muslim society is to allow it to exist.

By the way, this is for all of those muslims and arabs who should read this.

Americans are not well informed enough to deal with foreign societies. The most serious mistake America has committed
in dealing with Muslims is that the US is trying to force Western values onto them. Muslim society has very many problems and
it is difficult to assimilate into the US.

I think that if Americans have made fatal mistakes against Muslims, they are only the ones who can't separate a religion from a country - Iraq is the issue, not the Muslim religion. There are good people and bad people of all religions and I don't believe that the Americans are against the Muslim religion - it just happens that there are many Muslims in Iraq and people are getting the issues confused. Our mistakes are those also made in all wars - killing all Germans during WWII, the Koreans during the Korean War, etc. We aren't having a Holy War, we are simply protecting ourselves, and the innocent in a foreign country, Muslim, Christian, Jews, all alike.

Not one single mistake, they (members of Muslim society) are welcome here just as are Christians, Hindu, Buddhist and dozens of other religions and ethnic factions. Unfortunately (for you) your Christian (majority) neighbor my toss his beer cans in your yard, or allow his teenage daughter to wear her Daisy Dukes in front of your son... Now...who is being unreasonable? Our soldiers can not even have a naked picture of Madonna on their laptop hard drives.. so you can now vote for the government of your choice... even if it's Hammas... Bolshoi Pravda
