I'm a cubs fan so from the outside looking in: Historically, the Yankees are a better team, simply because they have more titles. This year i think its too early to tell. I think the edge goes to Boston at this point but I think its hard to answer this question until spring training when we can see how Matsuzaka performs and see how well the yankees outfielders are holding up with their old age

Kevlar don't believe the hype on Matsuzaka. The best major league hitter he faced in the WBC was Jorge Cantu. Before you make a judgement on how good he is, wait untill he faces the Yankees. The Yankees are the better team. Andy Pettitte has brought more depth to their starting rotation and they have about young guys who could start this year: Karstens, Rasner, Sanchez, and Hughes. Offense there is no question about, the entire Yankees line up can take on the two headed-monster of Ortiz and Ramirez, they proved it last year. Defensevily Boston is probably more solid but really they have a slow team speed in the infielder, Lowell really lets more balls by then he saves based on his speed. If A-rod can get his throwing right Yankees will defintely be the better team defensivly in the infield, also Jorge Posada is the better fielder then Jason Varitek, Varitek winning the gold glove two years ago was an absolute joke, he can't throw a runner out if his life depended on it. Defensivly in the outfield i think the Yankees def have the advantage, Manny is a lazy *** in left field, Coco and Johnny are pretty even and Bobby is way better then JD Drew or Willy Mo Pena.

As much as I hate to say it, the Yankees are. They are proven so the Sox won't be considered the best until they take out the Yankees. Which hopefully they will.

definately the yankees, although I've noticed with the new ownership of the redsox they have been trying to become the 'new' yankees by overspending.
