First off, ignore anyone telling you to lure the hamster with cheese. I don't know why people think rodents eat cheese (they should never even touch dairy products), because they don't. Use peanut butter mixed with a seed and grain mix.
Second, look for the hamster at night. As you know, they're nocturnal- if you try to draw it out during the day, you'll find yourself waiting all day.
If you find that the search is dragging on for a few days, leave some food and water out for the little guy.

Make everybody be absolutely silent so you can hear when the hamster moves. If this doesn't work in the daytime, do it at night, since hamsters are nocturnal. Catch up on your reading until he turns up.
Leave the cage open. The hamster may go home.
Rig a trap. If you can, rig the cage so the door falls shut after the hamster goes in. Tie a string to a delicious treat, then use this to trip the trap.

Eventually the hamster will need to eat and drink. I suggest putting the cage on the floor, leaving the door open, and have plenty of food and a full water bottle inside. The hamster will most likely look for food and water at night, so you can watch for him and then close the cage door once he's back inside. Works for me with my hamster every time!

According to the Hamster Handbook, get a bucket and put a tasty treat in the bottom (such as fresh cut apples). Put a pile of books up to the top of the bucket like a staircase. Again, according to the book that is the quickest and easiest way to catch a loose hamster. Good luck!

Set out some food for the hamster in each room of your house and monitor how much is left to track down where it is. You could also search each room and if its not there, close the door so it can't go in there.

I lost my hamster once, I just had to wait until she got hungry and she came into the kitchen wanting us to feed her. Then we put her back in her cage. You can put out food, but he'll probably come during the night and store it in his cheek pouch. As long as there isn't a way for him to get out of the house or get eaten, he should turn up somewhere.

Organize a search party and then slowly and methodically search you home. Equip all of the searchers with a small quantity of hamster food to entice the animal from its hiding spot.

Try putting tiny food bowls out, and see if some is gone each day. Check for pellets, and follow them. If he doesn't eat food and there aren't any pellets, I'm sorry to say, your hamster may have escaped to the outside.

This is what you do. Go to a pet store and buy two things. First, go get an identical hamster. Next, go and buy a snake that is large enough to eat your brothers hamster. This covers up the evidence.

My sons hamster went missing. I put her cage on the floor with some food. She crawled right in. I hope you find him/her soon.
