First of all, you said you knew him from the past so if he never said crazy things like that before, then it's safe to assume he's probably on drugs. You did the right thing not letting him in your house. You have your children's safety to consider. If he was talking about monsters trying to kill him then he probably wouldn't have left your house very willingly. You made the right choice, pat yourselves on the back.

Are the monsters carrying strait jackets or wearing badges?
No, I would not let them in they can stay outside and I would call 911. Here's a thought, He could have been waiting since 5am to knock on your door.

He is not well, either he is getting crazy or hallucinating because of drugs, a lot of reasons, call the cops first for your protection and his, then cops has always and answer for you. And when he is gone with the cops pray for peace for him.

well..since I once knew him..I'd invite him in..inform my siblings about a friend need help..then I'd calm him down, let him have a drink of coffee or something. Then I'll call the cope and allow to speak to the cope..and if he refuse I'd get him out of my house immediately. Owning to what had happen..imagine if it was u..how would u want to be treated...However its always good to be altruistic but be conscientious.

Hopefully you didn't let him in. First how did he know where you live? And your first clue that you should call the cops was when he said he was being chased by monsters! Hello! Please re-post and let us know what you did.

I wouldn't let him in. I would tell him to hide on the back porch, then I would call the police. He needs help whether it's true or just in his head.
