I'm a bit like that too! Try and use the tip point of each finger, it takes practise I think to get your own style of playing - dont conform to other ways. x

Sorry man but the fat bubble isn't going anywhere. Seems like your problem is either having the action too high(that is, the distance of the strings from the fretboard), or you need to arch your fingers more and be less lazy with your fingering. Other than that, there's not much else you can do.

first of all you MUST put into practice this rule:
DO NOT TRY TO PLAY ALL OF THE STRINGS ALL OF THE TIME!....... you can use one finger to play an "A" chord, 2 fingers to play a "D" chord, you dont need the A string when playing a G chord... and you only need the first 3 fat strings when playing a barr-chord with 2 fingers.

i'm a guitar teacher, and i've seen ppl with stubby little cocktail weiner fingers play, big fat fingers play, even really crooked fingers.

theres a video out there of a guy who learned to play with his feet because he lost his arms in an accident. he even played for the pope once. if that guy can do it, you certainly can!

theres not any shortcuts, theres not any magic tricks, its just putting in as much time with your guitar as possible, and besides just "practicing", make sure you're playing for fun too. once you have some chords and scales down, just play some easy songs along with your cd player. that way you'll be getting better and having fun all at once.

Practice. You can also try playing on a classical guitar, which has wider spacing (between strings) across the fretboard.
