My heart goes out to you as you work hard to provide for your family. Caring for yourself is an important way to care for your children, and it is not always easy to find ways to do that. I know with a little research, your efforts will be rewarded. First of all, many communities offer free or low-cost women's clinics. Look online for women's health, or health clinics in your area. Our community is small, but has a clinic that charges based on ability to pay. If there is a college in your community, contact them and ask for free or low cost clinics in the area available to students. Even though you may not be a student, some of these clinics may be accessible to you. If you have a doctor you have been seeing, DO talk to them about your situation, and see if you can work out a way to receive the care you need at a reduced cost. I would also contact hospital emergency rooms and see if they keep a list of reduced fee services. They would rather see patients use these services instead of coming to the emergency room for minor problems. Also, hospitals usually maintain a list they provide to patients of all the community services available in the area. Ask them for this list and contact the clinics listed. There are several very compassionate doctors in our community who see patient's in need at a reduced cost. Also, many communities AND drug companies have programs that offer free or reduced fee drugs to patients in need. I have a friend with lupus who took advantage of this service, and she paid nothing for all her expensive meds. Hang in there and don't give up!

Yes. What services are available where depends on where you live. Planned Parenthood provides "womanly" check ups. See if they have a chapter where you live. Also check with the county health department to see what services they offer. If your income is low enough, you might qualify for state medicaid services. In some communities there are other free clinics where doctors volunteer their time and services. You might also check to see if there are any social services agencies that would pay for you to get the insurance available through your work. Good luck to you. :-)

Yes! Family Planning Medicaid is a program that you sign up for at your local DHS office. It is income and need based and it pays for birth control and 1 "womanly" checkup per year. That is ALL that it pays for, but every little bit helps.

There are agencies and organizations that will help you with that. Check with Catholic services I think they will help you Catholic or not. There really is no reason a single mom should not qualify for some kind of help. Call around, and don't be embarrassed about it. It's not your fault that the government creates an economic environment that keeps most of us poor.

your local health dept should be able to do that & here in oklahoma there are churchs that sponsor clinics at night for people who can't afford to go see a dr otherwise. you may need to check that out in your area.

becoming a citizen of a developed country such as Canada Great Britain Germany Sweden Switzerland and many others will result in you having health coverage from the government that is equal to that any millionaires would have. this coverage is paid for in your taxes but your use of the systems does not increase your taxes.
