I agree with Radar. Refilling ink cartridges is like walking into a minefield. Doing it yourself is messy and results are not predictable. I have tried to use "certified" recycled cartridges, and these too are problem laden: Sometimes they work right and sometimes you'll wish that you never bothered with even recycled cartridges. If you MUST use recycled cartridges checkout http://www.quill.com for their "certified" recycled ink cartridges, and always use reputable vendors for recycled ink cartridges.

It is possible to refill HP cartridges, but doing so will cause major problems. The amount, quality and type of ink used can have serious affects on your printer; specifically in clogged print heads and nozzles. It's not worth the few bucks you'll save by refilling them yourself or purchasing refilled cartridges. (I learned this the hard way). Spend a few bucks for HP cartridges now or buy a new printer later. No, I don't work for HP, just wanted to share my experiences.

each and every so often all those matters could be resolved with the aid of going to the "HP answer center" icon that’s put in on your laptop (assuming you used the cd-rom that got here with your printer to place in the printer driving force, etc). in case you shop on with the on show training for installation the cartridges it would reset the ink stages. instead, you're able to desire to attempt a printer "reset". Take the cartridges out of the printer, turn the printer off, unplug the printer for 15 seconds, plug it back in, and set up the cartridges.

There are mini resistors in the print carts and their operational life is when the ink runs out. So the trick is... don't let the ink run out! By the time ink runs out the cart's about dead!
