The PS2 can run games (graphically) up to 480p. The PS3 can run games at 1080p, which I am pretty sure is the highest possible (at the time being).
The PS3's first-party (made by Sony) games will run for $60, unlike the PS2 , which first-party games ran for $50 for the first couple of years.
The PS3 has a built-in Blu-Ray player (next generation of movie playing), while the PS2 had a DVD drive.
The PS3 either has a 20GB or 60GB (depending on how mch you pay) hard drive, while the PS2 used 8MB memory cards to store data.
The PS3's SIXAXIS controller (official Sony controller) is wireless, while the PS2's standard controller (Dualshock 2) was wired.
There are quite a few more, but for the sake of time, I'll end it there.

r u kidding me. it has more interactive gameplay, has internet, a menu so ur not just limited to a crappy memory card thing so u can do pictures,movies, videos, download games, and demos. also not a big deal but its a better design. no offense but what kind of person can compare a ps2 game to a ps3 games and say wats the difference. better graphics. all games are not as gliding lik in madden on ps2 you go right through the person ur tackling and every1 has same charcterisics. on ps3 u have differnet styles of carrying different.and diff tackles. wow thats only the surface.

It's a hyped up version of the PS2. It doesn't do anything to better itself, besides the "six-axis" controller, better graphics, and games. I'm not going to say better games, because few are better. It got rid of the rumble, there's a difference.

its faster, updated and got a blue ray drive instead of DVD. Its also a whole lot more expensive...
apart from that i wud still stick to my ps2 for a while yet...

Like all other sequel systems. More features, new games, better graphics ect. But really, I don't know why so many people are going crazy about it.

PS3 is like a free roam, you can go wherever you want, and it doesn't have to load or someting like that
