Can a DVD rom drive read a DVD+R? I undertand that I don't have a DVD burner; however, it is a DVD rom drive and I was wondering if it can still be able to read the data on a DVD+R disc by using some kind of software.

Most don't ,unless the manual says reads DVD+R or can read data DVD and Some do anyways, If it can read a DVD then you don't need any extra softwere to read the R

yes.You just can't burn dvds.
