After a thirteen-episode run, the show was retooled extensively. Four of the original actresses, Felice Schachter, Julie Piekarski, Julie Anne Haddock, and Molly Ringwald, were written out of the show (although the four did make periodic appearances in the second and third seasons.)
Wealthy, spoiled Blair Warner (Lisa Whelchel), chubby, fun-loving Natalie Green (Mindy Cohn), nosy Tootie Ramsey (Kim Fields) and street-wise Jo Polniaczek (Nancy McKeon).
They were led by the great Mrs. Edna Garrett (Charlotte Rae). She was replaced, later, by Cloris Leachman, who played Mrs. Garrett's sister, Beverly Ann Stickle. (The show was not that good then.)
Once Edna's Edibles burnt to the ground, and Leachman replaced Rae, George Clooney and Mackenzie Astin co-starred, while the girls ran a gift shop called Over Our Heads.
I miss that show.

Jo, Natalie, Blair, and Trudy....(not tootie)...sorry, they got that wrong. I loved this show and watched the reruns long after they quit filming it.
