Hi sometime in my life I'd like to move to California or New York.

I've read in a book somewhere that the people are stuck up, mean, rude and not nice. Is that true?

Tips on Do's and Don'ts of being in CA or NY? how to act or mpt act?

How do they treat people who are nice, sweet, honest, not easily a push over, outgoing, does stuff for others?

Thanks!

I lived in New York for over 10 years, and I spend quite a few months working in L.A. I am English, I got to New York at age 25, I left 12 years later. I moved to Atlanta, people just told me how rude I was. I realized that New York is a tough place, no time, rush rush rush. Your answers need to be quick, fast and with no bull ****. The rest of the world looks at that as rude, in New york it is called survival. New Yorkers tend to work, and be career and work oriented, they party, but usually at weekends or late after work.

L.A. For a start the people are way more laid back, but that doesn't mean they are nicer. They are simply nice to your face, their rudeness comes when you leave the scene, and backbiting takes over. L.A. like to play way more than New Yorkers, and any day of the week, as soon as work is over. Networking and partying go hand in hand in LA, far more business oriented.

People who are nice, sweet honest. I would like to think I am all those things. I learned that I never to open up BEFORE I knew, or felt I knew that this person was trustworthy. Was I always right? Nope, but I still give people a chance, until they prove unworthy of my trust.

Be yourself, but be smart, don't tell people your intimate secrets until you know them.

These are my opinions, based on time spent, no scientific study.

I live in low southern California, closer to the Arizona border and the majority of people seem to be decent, Northern California, the people are decent, In between these are the rich people and that explains a whole lot about them, stuck up, better than, these are the beach city people, then theres the people in L.A. not nice. I would suggest not moving to California because as far as I'm concerned it's a crooked state. People out to get other people

From my experience, New York City is actually a pretty decent place. People aren't so much rude as they just leave each other alone. The rest of the state is pretty rural, and I'd imagine it's not much different from what you'd get in other Midwestern/East Coast rural areas.

CA...depends on where you are. Northern California is quite pleasant; Southern California is a bizarre alien planet. (Not really, but it feels like it sometimes.) Again, not so much rude as just very, very different. Has its own distinct culture, certainly.

i was born in ny and i have been to ca a thousand times. i think people are essentially the same everywhere. if you are just yourself and don't try to act a certain way because of where you are then you should have no problem leaving there or anywhere else for that matter.

I just moved back to California. It depends a lot on where you are. I'm in Northern Cal this time and the people seem nicer up here. Just be yourself if you move here. Better that thasn be a phoney.
