the spot in the DS game case that is wider is there to potentially hold a gameboy advance game

why?

who knows.

a guess of mine is that the DS case is much hardier than a gameboy advance game box (which is made from cardboard) so that a game is more protected, and you can hold all of your games in half the boxes
