Technically, Not so.

A phone can easily be 'engaged' when no one is there - due to the fact that yet ANOTHER person is calling that number (and thus engaging it).

As for being caught out in a lie....!

It's all a matter of your reasoning ....your reason for lying in the first place ...your motivations and so on, and whether you want to tell your tale and explain your behaviour ~ or not!

Sash.

No she can not sue. What Primark has accomplished is caught somebody stealing. They then locate out that she is employed in retail herself and is untrustworthy, so as that they tell her employer of what occurred - affirming that she admitted what she did. It would not be counted that they did no longer rfile it to the police, i think of they have been being charitable by utilising no longer doing this. if that they had stated as the police, she might have a warning, which might instruct upon her checklist for the subsequent 5 years. Her next steps could be to give up her activity. If she would not she runs the threat of being sacked (in all probability - somebody suited suited me here please?), and then she would have the capacity to no longer have the skill to ask for a reference, as that reference will state that she grow to be sacked. EDIT: how are you able to assert she isn't a thief? the only element that stopped her from getting away with that's that she grow to be caught! tried theft is as undesirable as theft as there is an extremely skinny line between success and failure regarding crime.

This is too confusing - although if you're friend has an answer machine and someone is leaving a message on it, a caller phoning at the same time gets an engaged tone.

Try telling the truth? Its not that hard and no-body really gives a shite....it just leaves a huge sense of curiosity about why you want to embarrass yourself so much and why you think you are so important. Sigh.....just say you must have rung the wrong number. Why lie anyway?...its just so infantile and makes yourself uneasy. Its ok not to want to talk to someone and its really ok and a confident act to say no...or later.
