Why do so many people talk to themselves in London?

I have noticed this just walking around,and,I find it sad and intriguing that many people seem to have full-length conversations with themselves,without noticing anyone else,even if they're on a bus/train or something,particularly in large cities.What causes this?(I don't mean people who fit the stereotype of "mad" either)

I worked in London for 3 days once and never spoke to anyone, desperate for a chap went to macy d's, no one spoke English

What you may be witnessing is people talking into their mobile phones using the earpiece. Talking while walking is no bad thing. This is probably one of the best ways of working out a solution to a problem. Winston Churchill was famous for this and rehearsed and re-rehearsed all of his speeches by this method - in the House of Commons he came on like a well rehearsed actor and was awesome.

I,m spanish and I do that a lot too
Maybe cause the people they have around(if they have somebody)doesn,t really listen to them
But I don,t really think to talk with yourself is something "sad"
