People make jokes about tragedy all the time. It's a defense mechanism for dealing with pain.
Even 9/11 jokes eventually came out, although I was glad it was a real long time before that happened. For once, it seemed like the tragedy was too real to joke about. But, eventually, the sick jokes came.

HE DID SO MANY BAD THINGS TO PEOPLE IN HIS COUNTRY AND OF COURSE HE DESERVED TO BE PUNISHED, BUT LOOK AT HIS COUNTRY NOW, THE WAR, INNOCENT PEOPLE, THAT HAVE DIED, BUILDINGS AND INFRA-NT STRUCTURE DESTROYED, AND A LOT OF OTHER THINGS WAR COMES WITH.
SO WHERE IS THE MONEY TO RE BUILD UP THE COUNTRY GOING TO COME FROM?
AND IS THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION GOING TO GO AFTER EVERY DICTATOR IN THE WORLD TO PUT WAR ON HIS COUNTRY , DESTROY IT LIKE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO IRAQ,
HAS SADDAM`S DEATH BROUGHT PEACE TO IRAQ, AND HOW SAFE ARE THESE SMALL COUNTRIES RICH IN RESOURCES THAT THE US HAS`NT GOT, BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THIS IS ALL ABOUT THE OIL IN IRAQ AND NOT SADDAM`S CRUELITY.
WHAT WILL STOP THE US FROM INVADING THEM, IN THE NAME OF PEACE.

Someone in World of Warcraft announced that Saddam was dead. Someone else asked what he dropped. I got a chuckle out of it.
