From what I got re same question to a political economist prof,
the Nazi's prefered to allow near monopoly situations. Big business was needed by them and they courted them with large contracts (a lot of munitions). They also outlawed trade unions (although workers had to join the 'Labour Front' ) and lengthened work weeks. They reduced unemployment with munitions and works programs (Autobahn highway etc.). They appropriated businesses from Jewish and other descriminated groups and gave them to other business people. She likened their economic policies to that of their other policies, elitist: trying to get the 'right' people to run business by taking business away from those of 'lesser' quality.

From other sources I gather they did not get much done re agriculture or small business. They had no economic plan per se, just a set of goals of how to use the economy in building the third Reich.

As an economist, I can say that the information given so far is in a micro sense. WW2 was caused by WW1 ( I wont get into that). Germany was no longer a super power. When Hitler came into power, he wanted Germany to be great again, and the only way Germany could become great was to obtain and hold all European ground and lands so that its resources could be used to build a better Germany. That was his long term plan, hence why he went to war, taking what he believed to be Germany's rightful property; ie Poland

He thought capitalism was unfair, but hated communism (shared state control).

He felt industry was better run by the central government towards whatever they thought was best ---- in short, a totalitarian, state run economy that was only slightly different from communist beliefs.

The Nazi party, ironically enough, was founded as the German Worker's Party.
