The American Army did not kill Saddam. His Shiite enemies, now in control of the Iraqi government executed him.
Few people will feel sorry for him, although many will use his death as a political and propaganda weapon, pretending that he was indeed the contemporary Saladin.
Saddam was never a danger to the USA, although he badly misread American interests and its commitment to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. His attacks on Iran had US support, and Amb. April Glaspie failed to disabuse him of the notion that it would carry him through his Kuwait adventure.

You have been watching too much Al Jezeerah broadcasting and cannot separate propaganda from fact. Although it was a goal of the soldiers to capture Saddam, they did not execute him.
Saddam and Iraq should have been only a side issue in the response to the attack on the US by muslim terrorists. Bad information from the western intelligence sources painted Saddam as a "player" in the terrorist threat. He probably was not.
Osama ben Laden is still our most dangerous terrorist threat.

Al Jezeerah isn't going to give you the straight skinny. Saddam was tried, convicted and executed by an Iraqi court, not the American Army. And I'm pretty happy overall. Both men were scumbags, oozing lesions on the backside of humanity. Equal billing as best candidates for wormpoop.
