was his funeral a display of respect for the God Father of Soul or a minstrel show the disrespects his legacy for the world to see?

James Brown was never my cup of tea, but he WAS the Godfather of Soul! A funeral is not only to mourn the death, but to celebrate the life! People love James Brown for his music; NOT his personal life. As for Gerald Ford. How was he a great President? He wasn't elected by the people to become President. He became President by default, when President Nixon resigned. As a matter of fact, he wasn't even elected by the people for the Vice-Presidency. He became Vice-President by default too, when Nixon's vice-P passed away. Then Ford was only in office for less than 2 years before being beaten out by President Carter. Everytime they showed Ford on tv, he was falling or hurting himself, as he was very clumsy. That's what he'll be remembered for. However, though, now that I'm really thinking about it, he was the President who finally ended the Vietnam war, so that alone I guess would make him a great President. So I stand corrected. However, James Brown was a better soul singer than Ford was a President. Personally, I cringe when I hear James Brown...LOL! They will both be missed, respectively. Happy New Years! :-)

I just don't get it. He got more recognition than Gerald Ford. Gerald Ford was a great president. I never understood what people saw in James Brown. He didn't have a great voice, and it seems whenever he was on the news, it was something negative. He spent alot of his life in jail, he beat his wife, he was into drugs. He definately didn't have it in the looks department. Why would such a man be honored? I don't mean to dissrespect him or any of his fans, but the kind of life he had, I certainly would not want.
