Yes all the big name stores will be open as the January sales which began on Boxing day continue.
The shops are all expecting to make a mint as reported in the newspapers so most of the high streets will be crowded so if you are going shopping I would make a early start. Check newspaper for opening times.

Most major stores are open in the UK on New Year's Day but at Sunday trading hours 11-4pm.

I know for a fact (cos I was shopping today) that Debenhams and Toys R US are open tomorrow.

Yep the majority are....my sis works in Holland and Barrett and if they are open you can guarantee the rest are!!

you will probably find that the majority of the shops will bge closed, although you may find a few exceptions
