Very harsh, some people just give violation notices just to annoy people, you definitely didn't say anything to deserve it.

yes, i agree about it being harsh. I got a violation also just for asking a simple question about a tv show. Yahoo said my violation was for "chatting and personal communication". I think some of this is ridiculous. I mean, isn't asking questions part of communication? If that is the case, then all of yahoo answers would be blank. I just think someone got a burr up their rear and reports people just for fun. You can appeal it. So you can get your points back. Just respond the violation they sent you. Personally i don't think you did anything wrong. Don't let it bother ya. Take care!

Do not quite understand how they do some of the rulings either, cos have seen some go thru with raw language or incinuation of and yet goes right to question format?????
Guess if it appeared you were or were attempting to pinpoint a person personally that the questioner or anyone answering were in violation for that - but then WHY allow the question thru?!
Sorry - have no clue either!

The rules are a little arbitrary.
I recently got ding'd for "Not a Question or Answer", because what I was trying to articulate was that the question as stated, was missing critical information. (Subsequently, they ALSO deleted the offending question for being bad.)
It happens, on balance, as much as people complain, they do the best they can with what must be thousands of pieces of information coming across all at once.

Unfortuneately, it only takes one person on here with a burr up their butt, for no reason at all, they hit the report symbol. Yahoo doesn't seem to take these serious, because they just give everyone a violation notice. Its a public forum, and unfortuneately, when someone is having a bad day, thats what they do. It could be worse, they could be taking it out on someone physically I guess. Yes, its harsh, but theres nothing we can do about it.

When you ask a question, do you really want to hear from all the people that can't answer your question, does it add anything or just clutter things up. Yahoo does not want the Answers to start looking like a chat room, if you want to chat go to a chat room, there you can say anything and many people do, and that is why it gets so confusing over there.

Maybe it's because you were expected to reply with a positive answer. Basically, if your face doesn't fit, someone will always try and find a way of reporting you, no matter how trivial the reason is.
