Al Queda led by Osama Bin Laden killed almost 3000 Americans. Is America (and Bush) meant to let that go??? Before this event we in the west didn't pass much time thinking about Islamists. We are now, through the atrocities committed by Muslim extremists in the name of Allah (God) forced to live and breath them and protect our societies from the fundamentalists among them! So please stop spouting the names of Bush and Blair and open your eyes to reality. If in doubt then take a look at www.youtube.com and search for The Religion of Peace ( Heavy Metal Version) the ill informed among you may then realise what is going on and what we the west and moderate Muslims are up against. Islam is a religion of peace and it is up to every peace loving Muslim to help in the fight against the dangerous extremists who are ruining both their and our societies. - Happy New Year to all.

Lord G - thank goodness someone has actually read this and can see the angle - most of those expressing an opinion are the sheep that I am criticising and they continue to bleat!

I still remember how it smelled for over a week years ago. I live on Long Island and it was such a shock and a tragedy. No matter who is responsible for this tragedy, whether through action or ignorance, they will suffer and have to pay the price. I want you to feel comfort in that I am not one of the people who can't differentiate between an extremist and an average person. I know that there are quite a few Muslims out there who will blow themselves up in the name of God, just like there have always been people who died for God. But I also understand that most Muslims, actually everyone, are just looking to live their lives peacefully. And most people feel that way as well. It's just the loud minority that gets heard.
Happy New Year to you as well.

I agree that we should be concentrating on hunting down the likes of Osama Bin Liner, but the reason why Bush gets so much flak, is that he has made of complete hash of his foriegn policy.
Yes, Al-Qaeda were responsible for the twin towers atrocity, and I support the military action in Afghanistan.
Unfortunately, Bush (and his poodle Blair) made the monumental mistake of invading Iraq, I believe for their own misguided political reasons, rather than to sort out the terrorist threat. In doing so, they turned the world against themselves, and have dug a hole so deep that they can't get out of it.
These "Moslem" extremists are religious fascists, and must be defeated. Let's not forget the lessons of WW2 (against other fascists). They need to be hit hard, now.

I watched the `News24` on TV, at 2pm. and they was a short documentary film shown about the "fall-out" from 9/11. When the buildings co lapsed the dust that formed contained mercury, dioxins etc, apart from the actual dirt. The film showed how peoples` health has suffered from breathing in this poison. Many are now seriously ill and un-able to work. So the Americans have yet another reminder of the tragedy,

Ok why did Al Queda attack US on 11 Sept in the first place? Also, how many people in how many other counties around the world have been killed through wars or attacks. It ain't just the US. Your country has never seen any kind of conflict on your own territory. So, Pearl Harbour was taken by surprise - how many years had world war 2 been going on - why the surprise? The UK alone had to put up with the blitz and umpteen IRA terrorist attacks for years. But we don't say "how can we let this go." you move on and 'let go'.

Could be that the way in which America and Britain responded to the Sept 11th event is equally as responsible for the world we live in now. Interesting that America gets one terrorist attack (albeit a pretty spectacular one) and the entire world is dragged into an ill conceived 'war on terror'. Fighting fire with fire (which American Presidents and British Prime Ministers are so quick and eager to do) never really seems to be the sensible step forward. We reap what we sow an' all that.

I'm sorry but I find this all a bit rich. I fought the IRA and they were armed with weapons bought and paid for in America. The Americans had no issues over those terrorists bombing the UK mainland well supported by rich Americans. Now, a war on all terror and the two biggest IRA terrorists and leaders of IRA/ Sinn Fean, yes they are the same organisation, are accepted politicians. The world has gone mad. I have a lot of empathy for American Armed Forces losses in Iraq and 9/11, but it took that horrendous day to make them sit up and see what they had been funding for years.

thank you allen555. I was born and raised in Northern Ireland and we lived with terrorism on a daily basis, funded by America, So while I do not and will not forget September 11th, I wonder if the Americans ever spare a fleeting thought for the deaths in my country that their government happily paid for.
