What are the pro's and con's of buying a high-end 5.1 speaker set compared to a low end one ?

Would it be worth an upgrade from a usb sound card (by Trust) to a PCI sound card ?

Would it be worth the upgrade from Trust 1600p 2.1 Speakers to Logitech 5.1 z-5500 would I notice a BIG difference ?

Anything else I should know when thinking about going for high end sound ?

Upgrade your sound card
trust me, there is a huge difference
if you are big on sound and u have some money
go for a Sound Blaster X-Fi series sound card
if u are kinda low, get a Sound Blaster Audigy series sound card.

The z5500 is an extremely nice sound system
i want it myself .
it is definatly worth upgrading.
you will notice a HUGE difference.
i went from a mediocre Lantec 2.1 sound system
to a Logitech 5.1 sound system with a 80watt bass (not alot)
and it was amazing to my ears already.

for the z5500 just make sure your neighbors aren't that close because it is quite loud.

right now, your speakers are your priority
but usually the sound card is.
but since your speakers are pretty low end, it can't utilize the full power of a Sound Blaster X-Fi sound card

To the 0.33 poster - BOSE is entire crap. To the question asker - in case you have been to %. between those 4 you have got little or no motives to desire one over the different. Of the 4, once you're choosing their larger fashions (Onkyo TX-SR875, TX-SR905, Denon 4308CI and 5308CI, Pioneer Elite 92 and 94TX and Yamaha RX-V3800) then the only subject i might point out is that in case you have an SACD participant with DSD output, the Pioneer does not convert DSD to analog at as quickly as. all the different fashions do. The Denon 4308CI examined the perfect with Sound and creative and prescient for analog noise stages, it is oftentimes a good indicator of ways nicely the factors are. in case you have a $5,000 funds i might bypass with the two the Yamaha RX-Z11 or the Denon 5308CI. in the experience that your funds is nearer to $500 i might bypass with the Onkyo TX-SR606. in case you have a funds between $a million,000 to $a million,500 then the Onkyo TX-SR905 or 906, Pioneer Elite VSX-94TX and Yamaha RX-V3800 must be on your factors of interest. Take a number of your well-known CD's or music and bypass on your close by broking and audition - it is often perfect. once you're ordering blind, you have picked 4 manufacturers that isn't disappoint no count which one you p.c..

I have on old bookshelf stereo with 1 speaker that I found at a yard sale plugged into my onboard sound card and it works fine for listening to music and watching video
Unless your computer is the center of your entertainment center I don't recommend that kind of upgrade

the difference won't be enormous. One of the last true products where you get what you pay for. If you want to go top end, sell your first born or don't waste your time. All of the stuff under two hundred usually sounds the same. unless you plan on entertaining guests with your computer don't spend the money

I disagree.. good speakers really make a difference when u r in the mood for music. The difference wont be BIG but it will be NOTICABLE, especially when u turn up the volume.

I say go for it.
