it's very easy and really works. It goes something like this.
When you first wake up in the morning close your eyes and point them toward a right angle while looking at your inner eyelid. Count down from 100 to one and put your middle finger and pointer together.
Do this for 20 or more days. I forget..have to re-read the bookfor the exact amount of days
After the amount of days count down from 50 , then 25 then 10.
Your mind will be able to go to that alpha peace stage any time during the day just by putting your two fingers together, closing your eyes and counting down from 10 to one.

Meditation can do it.
Also, when you exercise regularly, the heart get stronger which makes it a more efficient pump and therefore causes the resting heart rate to drop.

Being in good aerobic shape will lower it considerably. I am referring to the resting heart rate.
