Hey there,

This is a windows XP thing. It has something called a "System Restore" feature.

This is a hidden area on your hard drive that, everytime you do something to the computer, a delta backup is kept. So that, if you do something really stupid, you will be able to recover from it.

If you "Right Click" on "My Computer" and goto "Properties" you will see a tab called "System Restore" I am sure it is turned on and by default, your system is set to use 12% of your hard drive space for this function.

Now, your issue. It seems that you got a virus, and the only way to get rid of this virus is to either/and start your system in safe mode and turn off system restore during a virus scan.

What happens is that this virus comes back most of the time, because you can not really do anything in the system restore area. Deleting system restore frees up this space, effectively destroying the virus and everything else.

Now, if you do this, you lose all of your system restore features from this point back. No biggie. I do not know many people who even know it is there anyway.

Also, you may want to contact your antivirus vendor for a fix for your particular virus.

Good luck and keep me informed. Cheers!

Tom

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
