No, you are not thick and you "get it" better than most. President Bush is trying to protect the USA. People confuse the issues. What happened on 9/11 and the related War on Terror and then the War in Iraq are two separate issues. In a round about way they are all related but they are not directly related and President Bush has never declared they were. Only those who want to discredit President Bush make the claim that the War in Iraq is directly related to 9/11 through Saddam. President Bush has never made that claim. It is an accusation that is false and anyone that has half a brain knows it. You aren't the "thick" one, not by a long shot.
I wouldn't be so hard on Tony Blair if I were you. He is trying to protect you too. I can't speak for what his domestic policies are but he is a man of integrity for fighting the good fight against the War on Terror. As an American I feel honored to have him as an Ally to the United States.
There are innocent people in Iraq and it is unfortunate that they are losing their lives at the hands of the insurgents. I am sure that there have been some regrettable deaths to the citizens of Iraq by the coalition but those deaths were not intentional and they were not purposely targeted. They are being purposely targeted by the insurgents though.
You aren't wrong Sky Fairy... you are brighter than most. You hang in there kiddo, things will get better if we can stick together.
Take Care...

I don't think I necessarily HATE Bush, per se, I just don't think he's handling things very well. Granted, I'm not sure what I would do if I were in his position, but a lot of the decisions don't come from him; they come from his cabinet. Iraq probably needed done at some point, but the timing of it was suspicious, I think. We were originally after the true target: Afganistan, Al Queda, and Osama. We've completely steered away from that, and we're focusing all of our energy in Iraq. Because Iraq has WMD (which were never found), and is harbouring terrorists. (supposedly) Never mind the fact that a couple months before 911, Bush got a briefing stating that the Al-Queda force was coming together and planning a strategical attack on the US; and nothing was done.
I think the hatred is more disappointment and confusion. We were told that Al-Queda and Bin-Laden were ultimately responsible for 911, yet we aren't going after them. Amazingly enough, when the fighting intensifies in Iraq, our gas prices go up. Coincidence? Good to know that's where our priorities lie. Oil. The American people are pretty tired of being kept in the dark, and paying for it. That's why we tend to dislike our leadership.

First off, people don't join the army thinking that there will be a war, especially a war they feel is morally wrong. So don't even say "they didn't have to join".
Secondly, the problem that many Americans have with Bush is that he did not stick to his word. Although Saddam did help fund SOME terrorist organizations, he is not the essential piece we should have first went after. According to Bush's rhetoric, it should have been Bin Laden and Al-Quida. However Bush set an agenda to terrorism in which the enemy is invisible. Thus setting America up for a nearly impossible and very difficult job.
Thirdly, Bush's tactics on the home front, such as education (No Child Left Behind), health care, and tax breaks were all failures for the Working -class Americans, which is the vast majority of the country.
Did that clear some things up for you?

all American's do not hate George Bush. George Bush probably has as many people who dislike him as did any of the former presidents in the United States. If a person is a democrat and there is an elected president who is a republican then they probably do not like the president. When Bill Clinton was president there were as many Americans who disliked him as who dislike Bush. The BEST part of living in the United States though is that we are free to voice our opinions about political leaders without fear of execution or imprisonment. The bad thing about it however is that I think our society tends to take this freedom too far. We are a spoiled society who does know what it is like to not be able to "speak our minds" so we do so very loudly and are very quick to judge those in leadership positions. I am personally glad that I am not the one who has to make the decisions that have to be made by the leader of our country. In my lifetime I have not seen a US president finish his term in office without gaining a lot of grey hair and looking aged far beyond their 4 or 8 year service. It is easier for us to sit back and criticize someone than it is to actually "stept up to the plate" and try to help make this world a better place.

Invading Iraq had nothing to do with protecting the USA.
Statements by the Bush administration admit that Iraq had nothing to do with attacking the US on 9/11. They had no capability to do harm to the US. Bush seized upon the tragedy of 9/11 to take the US to war to gain support for his political agenda of enriching the wealthy and pushing through ultra conservative social programs.
The people who joined the military to protect the US did so based on lies to them. They believed they would be protecting their country, but that is because they were lied to. Many choose to continue believing those lies because the truth that they are risking thier lives for NOTHING is too hard for them to except.
And besides Iraq, everything that Bush has done has been a failure. Except for making the rich, richer. On that, he's been a success.

People hate Bush and Blair, because they invaded iraq on the pretence that Iraq had WMD's which they did not, when oil is at stake, they mobilise their troops to fight for or protect it, when there are problems in africa like Famine or Genocide, they do nothing. Also, are we blaming the Iraqi people for the "billion dollar demolition" of the twin towers. If it was terrorism, then why didn't we invade Cyria or Palestine or Iran?

The people who hate President George Bush are a bunch
of people who think that he stole both elections, which he did not do, because he was elected fair and square.
The other people are Hollywood left wingers and other
communist groups that have these demonstrations all the
time trying to stir up hate for him and the USA!!!!!!!!!

Some of these answers are really scary. How can any sane person still support Bush? He obviously has no clue how to handle the mess he has made.

Bush lied about being a conservative, it's that simple. Spending has dwarfed anything the democrats have done, his trade policy is a joke, immigration is out of control & we have alienated all our allies but your very own Tony Blair, which does'nt make me fell any better. Thanks to Bush I am now an independent, instead of a republican.
