If you wanted Saddam to say sorry then you would be waiting a long time. Making him suffer would not bothered the man, he is conditioned to his beliefs. You'd be torturing him for something he believed in because you opposed his beliefs rather punishing him for his crimes against humanity. How can you sentence someone for the crimes against humanity if you are inhumane also? Might as well free him and let him go.
His death brings a close to a turbulent Iraqi past and ends the chapter of tyrant rule. His death is plenty, he had lost everything and he was once a feared man of power was humbled by being arrested, trialled and executed by his own countrymen.
His execution is probably better than keeping him alive at great security costs and giving his supporters hope of his return. Keeping him alive to make him pay would of just kept the book open and not helpful to Iraqis who need a new way of life.
It shows the world that tyrant leaders are not immune from their actions and I think leaders like Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe were not sleeping so peacefully.

I'm against the death penalty in general so that would include Saddam. I also have some problems with the way his trial was handled that I won't get into. My concern now is that he might be turned into a martyr by his supporters and that the violence in Iraq could escalate. I don't think his execute is worth that.

you'll be kidding....acceptable? Iraq has been struggling with itself and each neighboring united states, on and stale, for the previous 5000 years. remarkable Saddam won't make a distinction interior the conflict anymore than our (u . s . a .) presence there'll. If the backyard of Eden grow to be placed in Iraq as many have faith, the 1st actual act of violence, while Cain killed Abel, happened there and has no longer stopped provided that.

Civilization means we abandon things like tethering a man to two horses facing opposite directions and then swatting each horse on the rump and watching the man get ripped apart when the horses run.
We didn't like it when the terrorists beheaded Americans and posted the viseo on the Net.
We must demonstrate how to separate Justice from Vengeance.

In this situation I couldn't agree more.
Saddam lead the sensless killing of thousnads of kurds in iraq and Iran.
Mnay of those people were tortured and I believe he should have suffered the same fate at the hands of his people.
He is know with his maker and will hopefully get his just dessert.

yes actually your idea is true.Because as you know lots of the people had been tortured, killed by him.On the other hand there is nothing the legal way which more strong than this execution for him.If they'd like to torture him as you know that's not legal. He was on the court. There was nothing to doing. He'd not be executed so he'd be sentenced many years. That would be much worst for us.
So I think this execution is the best punishement for him throughout the legal way.

I agree, he shouldn't have been executed. He was a sick, sick man who needed to be punished for the things he did, but execution isn't the answer and it isn't going to fix anything.
I also think the Iraqi people should have risen up and taken care of him on their own long before America stepped in.

I have something against it, I think he should have been tortured, tied on the streets let the people who he made suffer deal with him, hanging him was too easy a punishment.

oh i think he has far more worries than we know, he never was sorry for what he did. i think after after his death here on earth there was a punishment far worse than what we could have ever gave him waiting in the afterlife.
