You could try a sealer before doing the repair.

Put in Silver Seal. If that doesn't fix it, then you are getting compression through the leak and you can't stop it without replacing the gasket. If it's just leaking from the gasket to the outside of the head, then the sealer will fix it. If it's leaking into a cylinder then you have to replace the gasket. Good luck.

Leak oil? Compression? I would say no, nothing you can do. Have the right thing done. Take the head off, check to make sure it isnt warped and put on a good name brand head gasket when you put the head back on.

I have had good luck with K&W Block Seal which is available from Auto Zone and probably other stores as well. Follow the directions to a tee especially in regards to flushing the coolant out so you have just water in the system. I just saw that NAPA has a new product out which costs about $20.00 and has a money-back guarantee. One of the NAPA outside reps I know saw it used and swears by it. Since it's guaranteed you have nothing to lose and everything to gain if it works. Maybe it will work and your New Year will start out on a great note. Best of luck.

if your head gasket leaks there is nothing but replacement that will do the job. The age of your vehicle would indicate that this would be expected and not a big deal.
