How did the drug test come about? Were you 'randomly' selected? If so you're probably under suspicion and you can kiss your job good bye. Otherwise there is a chance they won't actually spend the money on doing a real test, they just get the sample to intimidate you.

It all depends on the situation. At work, as you said, you could be fired at the worst. You may be offered treatment. Law enforcement might be notified and they would begin to watch the coming and going at your home (that is drastic). If you are on probation or parole, your pb officer will probably be notified, and he or she can revoke your probation/parole. Many things can happen. Did you not know of the possibility of being tested? Do you realize the tests are not always "random"? If an employer gets a hint that you are getting high, even on your own time, they can test you and get away with it by claiming it is "random". Trust me, it's not. Nana

Unless you have a boss that wants to keep you bad enough to look the other way, I'd be on the job hunt NOW! If you have an option to go to treatment and do, you may be able to save that job. Good Luck! If you are union, ask a steward you trust after getting failing results about your options. If not ask a laywer. Unless the job is a crap low pay job. They are a dime a dozen.
You'd better detox ASAP.

If your work has a zero-tolerance program for employees that are taking drugs than you are going to be fired. Better luck next time.
