They refuse to stay on their lanes, they cut through lanes left and right, they ignore pedestrians, they do not stop at stoplights but stop whenever they want to (to pick up passengers), they do not care about other vehicles on the road. Why o why?

I think its not only in the Philippines where offensive driving is an issue, its just a matter of discipline. If your a foreigner its understandable that you get easily offended by that, traffic rules are not strictly implemented all the time (most of the time these drivers get away with traffic rules). Also, driving a passenger jeepney is not easy, they pay "boundaries" to the jeepney operators(those who own the vehicle) and get only a small percentage (perhaps equivalent to minumum salary or even lesser depending on how many passengers they got for the day), and pay for the gasoline, so there is always competition to be fast and to get more passengers.

Because they're all private owners of the jeepneys. Outside of Manila there are VERY few bus stops - usually one or two to a town; so all you have to do is stick up your paw and and they'll stop for you even if they already have people hanging hanging on outside. (School buses same way). Maybe you've noticed that they always stop on a corner of an intersection. They cut you off because their beat-up jeepneys are not worth as much as your car. They do not spend money on maintenance and run them until they stop, or a wheel falls off. Result is you find 2 or 3 of them beside the highway broken down (same for the trucks). Perhaps they don't realize that half of their diesel is going out their exhaust as smoke.

And finally, the worst contributor to this mess is the police that just stands there looking at this going on and not enforcing the law.

I easily have flirted inspite of the indisputable fact that this is extra of the basic and pleasant banter. really i'm getting _buddy buddy_ with those adult men by impressive up a convo and all, thrown in some strains of flattery, take in an pastime and from the 5 cases i have taken a cab i have really had to pay two times! :D they're many times fairly great adult men easily, inspite of the indisputable fact that i wager this is merely because I easily have a way with human beings, yet i does not recommend each person attempting it because you do not understand those adult men good? Who is conscious what they could pull?

I know what you mean, it is probably because they just want to make more trip so they can earn more money. The hot weather does not help either, and staying in traffic make it worse to drivers.

Because they've gone crrazy. Traffic in the Philippines is ridiculous. They are probably doing it to aleviate their frustrations. Also the Philippines has a history of corruption and they do not adhere to the rules.
