I read all the answers to your question and some of them are stupid. They have no idea what NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS are. we are no ignorant or rude. People just don't understand us. I'm 3/4 indian and I'm not rude. My heart is as big as the world. And the only reason why some are rude is because the white folks of this world don't understand us. And they think they know everything about us and they don't. They have no idea how much our ancesters suffered for us to be free. They were slaves and sold and bought just like the African American's were. But at least they were not given diseases to kill them like they were given to us in blankets and trinkets. So, the India Indians are not called Native American Indians, they are just called India Indians.
I'm sorry I'm so harsh about this, but people just don't undeerstand the NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN.
P.S. We were here first before the whites took over all our land. And we are still fighting for our rights as American's.

Columbus didn't know he had not reached the West Indies. Indeed, the people in America called Indians should really be called Native Americans.

Most people do not call them that. They are Native Americans. The term Indian is not used for Native Americans anymore.

Early explorers could see a similarity between the Native Americans and the Indians, except for a variation in their skin colour. Hence the term Red Indians.
It is absolutely nothing to do with the West Indies.

Pesky stoneage savages like the aboriginies of australia.
Send them here to England like every other form of untermensch from the four corners of the globe. Then tell the liberal left they are bringing valuable skills , who will then spread the word on yahoo answers and report anyone who disagrees for a violation.

What happened to school history?
The first Europeans to bump into North America thought they'd got to India! [And I know they didn't hit the mainland first, before anyone tries to correct me!]
