Assuming you're looking for period piece, filmed costume dramas I recommend an independent film titled "Russian Ark."
The film runs for an hour and a half, was done in one continuous take (no breaks in filming), and has a cast of thousands. The setting is the Hermitage, which is an art museum in St. Petersburg.
The viewer is greeted by a single character who has no idea why he is where he is, and converses with an off screen character for the entire film. Together they tour the Hermitage, and encounter people from different time periods in Russian history, all in full costume.
I found the film at Blockbuster video, and it can be purchased through some video stores.

Don't forget Jane Eyre. And if you want a modern take on the gothic novel, try The French Lieutenants Woman by John Fowles.
