One day to cover any place near Bangalore will be difficult due to Bangalore traffic and crowd. I can suggest for a week end three days you can visit Yelagiri near Jolarpet / Tiruppathur in Tamil Nadu. A Nice and peaceful Hill station of 4000' just 170 KMS from Bangalore. This place is not crowded and nothing to see more than a day, except a good lake and walk ways. Most part of the Road is NH 7 & 46 from Bangalore to Vaniyanpadi, very good to travel. For further details please read in :

For a day's outing you can visit Nandi Hills or go round places in Bangalore city.

I think mr sharma has covered all the places pretty well... there are more like talakadu... temples hidden in sand.. mahadevapura , kaveri river falls, umpteeen number of piligrimage places all round bangalore.... and there is wonderla , fun rides for kids and adults near bididi.... bannerghatta national park with lots of wild animals , tiger , lion sanctuary... even hogenkal falls can be covered for a day trip..which is nice ...any tourist office will be able to give more information.. enjoy your stay in bengaluru....:)

You can think of Nandi hills which is less than 100 kms by road. Other destinations which may interest you are Mekedatu or Muthathi (could be around the 100 kms radius you have in mind). Have a nice tour and visit

You have seen nothing yet.
By a good map of Bangalore and vicinity ( from tourist place).
Draw a circle of 100KM radius and start picking, a place to visit one per weekend. Have fun.

This depends on your thinking and choice where would you like to be.Whether a religious place or for the purpose of outing and dining or for the purpose of looking for the natural sceneries etc and etc.
Vrindaban garden is also a very good proposition.
