I have a desktop and a laptop at home. I might soon add another laptop. I have a DSL connection. Please guide me, what kind of router could be good for me? I have also learned about firewall feature for routers. Should I buy one with that?

There are three brands you will usually see in the stores, D-Link, Linksys, and Netgear. All are fine. They all have a firewall as far as I know, I do not know if the firewall is all that configurable)but I still would have a good software firewall on your computer (such as Zone Alarm free version). The prices start at $50 and rocket upwards, especially if you want to get into wireless. D-Link has a $50 router that works good.

I can tell you the most unreliable 2 by a long way are

Netgear & Linksys - I have had about 25 failures this year

The one I use - and have installed, about 50 (1 Failure) is a dynamode

magnificent could be to purchase a router with a NAT firewall. this allows each and each laptop interior your community to have a distinctive IP address which isn't viewable from the outdoors. some manufacturers i might propose are Belkin, DLink and Linksys.
