It's really a preference thing - otherwise they wouldn't make A underwires. Some larger women find that an underwire offers more support and thus more comfort. I t has nothing to do with age. I wear both types - my general thinking is, the less supportive the fabric on the cup, the more I need a wire. So while my exercise bras rely on the superstrong lycra blend, my "dressy" bras have underwires. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to take a trip to a lingerie store - a good one - with certified fitters. They can not only advise you, but help you find your exact band & cup size. If the store's more expensive than your normal bra shopping would run, just buy one bra and then go elsewhere and get the rest. It's really worth it as far as comfort later. I've got to go back soon and get refitted myself.
I'm normally a DD, though right now I'm somewhere around an F or G because I'm nursing. So if anyone needs to know about support, it would be me. Unfortunately, other moms have been telling me that even after I stop breastfeeding my cup size may stay bigger, which sucks for me since I'm already limited to where I can get bras. And bad bras for us bosomy ladies can lead to back pain, those permanent red marks in the shoulders, etcetera, as I'm sure you've probably already found once or twice yourself.
Oh yeah, just so others know, genetics plays a huge role in your bosom size, and often there's nothing you can do about it other than surgery. I was embarrased when I had to start wearing a training bra at 10, by 14 I was up to a D. Senior year I lost a good 20 pounds working out, which when my mum did her cup size went down. I just got to looking like a bizarre disproportionate thing. My lucky little sister didn't even have to start wearing a bra till well into high school, though she told me she envied me my ridiculous endowment. I got my maternal great-grandmother's genes, my sister got someone else's.

Hey Coolgirl,
I think you'll find underwire bras quite frequently in a C-cup. If you're thin, you're probably "perky" too. The underwires are there for support. There are probably sometimes when you want to "show off the girls" but for the most part, you're not going to have to worry about gravity for another 15 or 20 years (unless you get bigger still or have a baby). When "showing off the girls" underwires will help you defy gravity. Otherwise, at your age, I suspect you're probably still a bit "tender" and you won't like them.

It has nothing to do with age. I've been wearing an underwire bra since I was your age. C cup is definitely large enough for an underwire, but at your age you might want want to wear one yet. Try on several different styles to see which one you are most comfortable with.

You don't have to wear underwire bras. My daughter was large busted like you and she said they really hurt her. She was in a D cup before she turned 14.

I talked to my wife and she informed that there is no age. It is your prefrence of what style you want to wear underwire, padded, padded underwire, padded no underwire etc. It is what ever makes you comfortable because she says the padded underwire are very uncomfortable but regular un padded underwire give you great support.

A C cup is big enough for underwires, but try them first because some girls find them uncomfortable.

You don't HAVE to wear underwires.
I hated them as a 38J, and I hate them as a 38C cup. They dig into you.
