My gran was 14 then and she told me that she and HER grandfather who was 105 in 1908 went for a walk everyday, He lived to be 107. A home, family, and the basic necessities were what made the older person happy in 1908.

I don't know, but I do know that my mum was born in 1908, so I should imagine my grandmother was very happy. I also imagine that it wasn't such a bad time, as life was so much simpler then. You could also leave your doors unlocked day and night without fear of being burgled or anyone beating you up or putting letter bombs through you door while you slept. I think also know in them days you had your family living in the same street. Nowadays families are scattered. That is hard for seniors. May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. especially to the seniors who are spending it alone.

Is this a trick question? I suggest you research what happened in 1908 to see if there were any particular things that might have made older people happy at that time.
Otherwise, i would suggest that the same sort of things made people happy then as they do now. Having a warm home, food to eat, family and friends to be with, not too much illness, interests and things to do,pets, religious beliefs etc.

To be alive at any age is a wonder even if our circumstances are less than comfortable.Speaking as an OAP I would say if we are lucky old age comes to us all. The birth of a new family member has made old people happy since time began.

They could leave their windows and doors open without being scared. They could walk the streets without being scared. There were no Hoodies around, that is the best of all.
