You want to do nothing but read your railway magazine? Then do it! I have a friend who is going to bed at 8pm [I wish I was that lucky, since I have to be up at 5am for work]. No one is obligated to stay up late or go out and party. Do what makes you happy ^^

Why people get worked up is another thing entirely though. For some people it's just another excuse to drink, make wise decisions, improve their reputations and then feel like crap the next day [Yeah, I've never understood the brilliance of alcohol]. For some it's a tradition, just as burnt into their character as Christmas, The 4th of July or a Birthday.

For some it's a reason to get together with friends; Remember that there are people who may not always be able to be with their friends or don't have many at all!

For some [like me >^,^<] it's a chance to party a bit and eat food, hehehe...

It's a landmark during our time and we can either treasure it or let it pass. Truth be told, it doesn't matter what you do. Once we're gone, no one will remember what anyone else did on New Years. It's like any other night: Another fleeting chance to make yourself happy ^^

Absolute fine if you spending time with a railway book or timetable.
A railway Time table is itself a encyclopedia for railway fans.

Don't worry, most of people can not understand someone hobby!

New years eve well if you call shagging getting drunk and having all night party boring then well perhaps life is not for you. try an alternative. (I have no suggestions for that). also your celebrating a good year done and another starting maybe your negativity is due to having no life. but have a good new year and perhaps you will find out next year why new year party's are so good next year!!!
