The ALT light have bewen doing this for a while now. What is causing this?

check ur wiring, run it down from beginning to start, sometimes it gets jarred loose.....goodluck

If it comes on and stays on for a few minutes then goes out, get the alternator tested. Most of the chain auto parts stores will test it free. Tell them what you are experiencing, most of the guys are willing to help any way they can and will probably really wring it out for you.

If it flickers on and off, try this: Install a 10 gauge wire from the alternator bracket to the body of the truck. Make sure the connections are clean. If that fixes it, you have a bad ground wire somewhere. The engine is grounded to the frame and the frame to the body. Chase those down and clean the connections. Have a look at the battery terminals while you are under the hood.

First check your belt, make sure it is tight and not slipping. If it is tight and the light still comes on, then your alternator is on its way out. You will need a new one.

check also the belt could be slipping.
