Download & use this free utility :

http://dban.sourceforge.net/

It will make sure ALL data on the hard drive is permantely destroyed.

Buy an HP Media Center with Dual Core AMD or Intel. All factors considered, it is one of the most complete, reliable & well supported products on the market.

* I would choose AMD over Intel due to better price performance & upgrade options (make sure it has the AM2 CPU socket & that the purchase includes a free Vista upgrade)

Just reinstall Windows, it will delete and reformat the disk and put on the operating system. I seriously doubt there is anything anyone could recover. I don't know about which is the best computer to buy, someone else might.
