I recently have had trouble sleeping at night. I find it really hard to stay asleep for more then 3 hours. After this it's almost impossible for me to fall back asleep. Is there any advice on falling back asleep or just being able to longer without taking any sleeping pills or medicine? Also I do eventually get fall asleep after fours hours or so later but is terribly inconvenient for me. Is there a way to fall back asleep about 30 minutes after I wake up again.
Additional Info: I usually sleep in a quiet room without a lot of light (except my computer).

funny how i know what keeps me awake. you may have different reasons. id see a MD also, if you are a pop drinker discontinue or stop by 5pm. and only one a day. or drink non- caffeine. don't smoke. remove computer in another room this could effect your sleep. stay out of bedroom except to sleep until you get over this bridge. walk daily.cant sleep get up and read, watch a boring movie on a couch you will dose off. ask about tylenol pm if all fails. only once or twice weekly and go to bed at a decent time and get up even if your tired. set bedtime times say 10pm- 7am then get up. make this your pattern if you sleep or dont. you will set your internal clock to ticking. avoid spicy foods, chocolate and soda. warm milk may help at bedtime. goodnight or goodmorning? i stayed up all night on purpose. so i wont drive today. maybe cranky but i will sleep tonight.

You might try cutting out caffeine after lunch. Also avoid bright light (TV, computer) before bed. Don't use the computer or watch TV thirty minutes before trying to sleep. Also a sleeping routine might help. See if waking up and going to bed at the same time every day for a week or so works. Hope this helps.

i have had trouble with sleeping on and off for a while. what i find effective is melatonin, valerian root capsules, catnip tea, warm milk just before bed warm shower, increased excercise during the day, even just a walk will help. even take a little carbohydrate before bed, not a lot, or it will cause weight gain, but maybe a piece of toast or a few crackers. possibley is your room too quiet? i know it sounds weird, but some people need a little noise, i would suggest a small fan, or one of the sound machines..hey, it might help..
good luck

A person needs at least 5 hrs sleep out of which 3 hrs sound sleep is necessary. Mental tension, painful diseases and excess of coldness energy in the body are reasons of loss of sleep. If you have tension pl remove it with bold mind.
Drink a glass of warm milk before sleeping instesd of water.
Purchase a small round magnet. Keep it below your neck while sleeping with S pole touching your neck. You will sleep within 10 minutes.
If you believe God recite His name or prayer continuously while on bed. Don't think anything else.

The question is and you're all missing it: What is waking you up? Are you feeling surprised when you wake up? Do you sit bolt upright? Are you feeling any unusual pains anywhere? How about a headache, chest pains, difficulty breathing? Tummy pains? I think the other question that needs to be asked is: what has changed in your life recently that is stressing you out? Has your husband left you recently? Forget him girlfriend, you better off! Ummm, Hmmm.

you could have serious medical conditions, i would consult a doctor and talk to them about it, however i know you said that you didn't want to take pills or anything for sleep but you can go to GNC and they have some different types of stuff that is non habit forming you could try....also make it a point to not sleep during the day too.
